Ma  & Pa are grandparents to about 75 kids from the neighborhood. All the kids know Ma & Pa’s house is always open to them. They know Ma & Pa have the best ice cream, their cabinets are always full of chips, and their freezer is stocked with popsicles. When the kids want to escape from their drug-addicted parents, Ma & Pa always has a bed open for them to find refuge.

On Fridays, Ma slaves in the kitchen all day long so that at 2p when the kids get out of school they can start their weekend off right with a hot meal at Ma & Pa’s house.

On Sunday, we converted the living room to a dining hall and packed 15 people around the table. That’s just what Ma & Pa do.

Ma & Pa have no idea where the next meal for the kids will come from but they know that God will provide. And He has. Since I’ve been here multiple people from the community stop by Ma & Pa’s to drop off 15 loaves of bread, or a sack of potatoes, or 3 crates of salad and vegetables, or a 15-gallon bucket of laundry detergent. Ma & Pa bless other people by receiving people’s blessings.

Ma & Pa are just a couple of people like you and me who have been redeemed by God’s grace but they’ve seen a need and are relying on God to provide the means. What a great life.
