It’s Friday, but Sunday is Coming

“I will rejoice in the Lord,

I will be joyful in God my savior.”

It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming.

You see the fig tree, but no buds.

You see the vine, but no grapes.

The olive crops are failing and the fields are producing no fruit.

Your soul feels dry and bare, but hold on.

It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming.

He is pruning away selfishness.

He is cleansing hearts of bitterness and unforgiveness.

Remain in me, abide in my perfect love as your joy is made complete.

I am calling you friend.

Do you believe this today?

It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming.

I AM peace and I trust in the peace to sleep through the storm that rages on.

I rebuke the waves of doubt.

I tell you, “Quiet. Be still my beloved child,” just as David told you, “Be still and know that I am God.”

Hold on because

It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming.

I am calling you out of the boat with faith

courage

dependence

boldness.

Will you walk with me?

Keep your eyes fixed only on me.

I am reaching out to you.

Will you trust me to catch you?

This was just one step, but have no fear.

It’s Friday, and Sunday is coming.

Now come with me by yourself to a solitary place.

To the mountainside

the other side of the lake

under a tree

at a table

on a couch

in your room

or in a closet.

You cannot share your cup if it is empty.

Allow me to first fill you up.

You man think that you have no time, but oh child, you do, because

It’s Friday, and Sunday is coming.

Let me fill you with the riches of my love.

I will teach you that when your first portion is given to me, everything is holy.

I, the root, am holy.

All those who choose to live their life grafted into me are also holy.

Try not to live with pride my child.

You are not superior to anyone because I, the root, support you so stand on faith because

It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming.

Even when you see a field, but no sheep.

Even when you see a barn, but no cattle,

Declare that you will Rejoice in the Lord.

“I will be joyful in God my savior because

It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming.”

Happy Good Friday and Easter everyone! During this past week, I studied a lot on how Jesus prepared his people to say goodbye. He never stopped preaching in the temples or having alone time with God. He poured into the big crowds as well as intimately building up his disciples.

I put together a special Maundy Thursday celebration yesterday for my team. I looked at how the disciples celebrated the last supper and tried to mimic it. I began by washing my team’s feet and reminded them that we are called to be servants. I think Jesus blessed communion with the food that was at the table which happened to be bread and wine. We were eating beef patties and fruit punch for lunch so we gave thanks and had communion with what Jesus had blessed us with for that meal. I think Jesus was best friends with his disciples and had a great last night of laughs as well so we of course had good fun and conversation. In one of the gospels, it says that the disciples sang a hymn before they went to pray. We sang one of our favorite songs, “King of my Heart”. We then went into a time of reflection and prayer. We read some of the big points that Jesus told his disciples as He was praying and  preparing them for what was next that night. It was a moving time to be together as a team to reflect and remember just how great of a man Jesus was and how simple we can celebrate what he did.

We attended Good Friday service this morning and are partaking in the traditional food of the day: bun and cheese. (fruit cake and cheddar cheese) We will of course go to church Sunday to celebrate Easter and (I hope) have a big feast.

Thanks so much for all the words of encouragement and all the prayers. Love you all and sending prayers back home everyday!
