I have to be honest. While I absolutely love missions, when I would read previous Racers’ blogs about door to door ministry, preaching at a service and “ATL-ing” it made me a littler nervous and I truly wasn’t that excited to do that sort of ministry. In fact, I wash hoping my team wouldn’t have to do that sort of ministry! All the mission trips I have gone on involved the same things: building a house, VBS, cleaning, and skits. So the thought of door-to-door or even giving a message put me out of my comfort zone.

However in this first week of ministry, we’ve worked with Pastor Roel and prayed with families in his community and I gave a message at his church on missions (which went really well). I wasn’t even nervous or apprehensive, in fact, when it came time to pray with the families in the community, I was probably the most excited in my team.

Just seeing how my heart is slowly transforming is really exciting. The fact that I was excited and not complaining is a big change of heart from when I first began reading other people’s blogs to now. God’s definitely been holding my hand. I was exhausted the first week in Guatemala during Launch when we really weren’t doing that much ministry. I took a nap everyday, that is how tired I was. However, since we’ve been in Hue Hue, God’s given me so much energy. I do get tired spells, but when it comes time to minister, God gives me a lot of energy to get through it.

This first week has been incredible. We have also worked with Pastor Rene, cleaning the house that he’ll be moving into, prayed for the community of San Lorenzo, and Luke gave his testimony at the service that night.

Everyone is so hospitable and so loving. I am truly blessed.
