Month 1     Maseru, Lesotho     Beautiful Dream Society

Ministry Summary:During the first month on the race, my team had the privilege of working with the organization Beautiful Dream Society. We spent time at a children’s home with 8  kids, ages five to 18. We helped teach in their classes, had Bible studies with the House Moms, painted the hallways, and most importantly, spent time with the kids. We washed their feet and gave pedicures one afternoon, reminding them that they are worthy and loved. Along with Beautiful Dream Society, we also partnered with a local orphanage, Beautiful Gate, and a ministry and school for street boys named “Sepheo” (meaning “purpose” in Sesotho).

Adventure Highlights:

  • I held a 6 week and a 6 moth old lion.
  • I rode horse back to the tallest waterfall in Africa.

What God taught me this month: My identity is not in achievements, talents, comparison, what people say or the affirmations I receive. I find my identity in Christ and Christ alone. When He says I am beautiful, worthy, and loved, that is what I am because Christ is who I am.

Month 2     Nsoko, Swaziland      Adventures in Missions Base

Ministry Highlights: This was “All Squad Month” on the race where all the teams on my squad were living together as one big community. We partnered with the Adventures in Mission base in Nesoko and worked with a sports ministry to host a local soccer tournament. We also spent time at care points around the community where children can go to be at a safe place and receive a meal, education, and learn about Jesus. We also spent some days working on cleaning up the base, and praying for local people as we felt God lead us. I had the privilege of helping to organize and lead my squad in worship throughout the month though musical worship as well as communion.

Adventure Highlights:

  • I went on a traditional African safari and saw a lion, rhino, elephant, and giraffe.
  • I caught, killed, and ate the same chicken that I appropriately named “Bach”.

What God taught me this month: I came ALIVE in Swazi. I started to listen for God’s voice and without fail, would hear Him. If he asked me to do something crazy and out of place, I would do it because He is relentless. He told and showed me how crazy in love with me He is! I also learned to be obedient in my quiet time though waking up early and spending long but quality time with God every day.

Month 3     South Africa     Baby Hope House

Ministry Summary: We were 24 hour Moms for our third month on the race. We were at a home that fosters abandoned babies. For the month there were ten babies aged a week to 5 years old. We had the privilege of taking over the house to give the two ladies who run the house a vacation this week. Before our hosts left, we had weekly worship nights all together and were able to press into our own relationship with the Lord as well as praying for the babies and the community. We were also so blessed by our neighbors as they took us in and drove us around to see different parts of Durban, attend several churches, as well as welcomed us into their prayer gathering.

Adventure Highlight:

  • I went swimming with sharks outside a cage. They brushed up against me as I looked into their beautiful eyes.
  • I was chosen as a volunteer at the dolphin show at the uShaka aquarium.

What God taught me this month: God reminded me that I have so much potential and that I have a bold calling. He communicated this through a vision of climbing a mountain and watching a bird fly.

Next stop: Asia!

We are currently traveling to Vietnam. My team’s ministry this month is called “Unsung Heros.” We will be traveling and looking for new organizations and ministries to partner with in the future. My team is excited to spend so much time in prayer every day as we seek to be so in tune with the spirit that we are able to discern where the Lord leads us this month.Your prayers are much appreciated, especially this month! Thanks!

Lots of Love,

Kimmy
