As I have had some time to ponder my first week back in Africa, I think it was really about the connections I made with the various people coming through Alabanza. In addition to the staff, who are amazing, there were a few other people of interest there.
Lorilei and Sarah were both visiting for a little while. I didn’t realize it at first, but after a little talking I discovered an ironic connection. Sarah is actually a sister to Herb who was our ministry coordinator in Mozambique two years ago. Lorilei is Sarah’s friend who also happens to be dating Herb. It was fun to share stories and see pictures. Apparently our team was as imactful to Herb as he was to us. I thought it strange that we happened to end up at Alabanza at the same time. It makes me wonder what God is up to there, as I have learned that these cooincidenses aren’t quite as random as they appear.
I also had intentions of meeting up with a team from Operation Mobalization based in Pretoria. One of the girls from Amy Jo’s team that I met in Kenya five years ago works for them in Atlanta, and suggested that I look into their organization. When I saw that they have a base in Pretoria, I asked if I could stop by and check it out. I have not been able to arrange transportation to get there though.
