For some of you, your heart may have skipped a beat when you read this title, but I assure you this is a good thing.

I am not speaking of a physical pregnancy as you probably assumed. This is a matter of the heart, and of the Spirit.

During our debrief, one of our mentors spoke to us about a new revelation in Luke 1. It really touched my heart, and I hope it does the same for you.

One thing that our culture is severely lacking is spiritual parents. People that take the responsibility to teach and mentor our youth about the things of God. Most parents do not even do this with their own kids, much less raising up a generation.

On The World Race, we have been privileged to inherit many spiritual fathers and mothers to teach us and love us. They know that in order to raise an army to build the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, they have to make the next generation greater than themselves.

They have dedicated their lives to doing that for us; a bunch of kids that knew there was more but didn’t know where to find it. Just as Elisha asked Elijah for a double portion of his spirit, these mentors have blessed us to receive a double portion of their spiritual inheritance.

The passage that Lisa used to convey this message is a bit surprising. It came from Luke 1. When the Holy Spirit came upon Mary and conceived a child within her, she went immediately to be under the protection of a spiritual mother that could protect her. She went to Elizabeth, who having suffered through barreness had now become pregnant herself my the grace of God.

Elizabeth understood from the beginning, that the child within her was to go before and call out the child in Mary. She knew that the child within Mary was greater than the child within her.

Just like Mary, the Holy Spirit has come upon me and conceived a dream in my heart, in my spirit. A dream to see the Kingdom of Heaven built on earth by this generation. God has also put me under the care of spiritual mothers that know the dreams they have birthed were to go before and call out my generation and make them great.

I will be my turn to be that mother some day. In some ways, I already have with this new squad of racers. Seeing them come alive and catch the vision. Imparting them with all that was given to me so that they can become greater.
