We had another great opportunity today to learn what it means to live at a slower pace. We have today and tommorow off as personal days, so we decided to go into town. We had to go to a bank to pay for our visas because today is our deadline to get that done, and we had put it off. When we got to our regular bank, it was closed. We had to go to another one a few blocks down the street. Easy enough, but when we got there the line was ridiculousy long. It was winding around the whole lobby.
There was one line for people who have and account, and one line for people who do not. Guess which line was much, much longer. We stood in line for 3 hours. Not really how we invisioned spending our first day off, but it had to be done.
To pass the time, I began praying blessings over every person in line in front of me. It didn´t take long for me to run out of words, so I let the Holy Spirit take over for a while. I figured it was the best I could do, not being able to speak any Spanish. The only other thing I could offer was a smile.
A couple of my team mates stuck up conversation with the people around us. Kelly gave a gospel bracelet to a little girl next to her, Mallorie shared her head phones with a young lady by her, and Eric and Jake struck up some general conversation with a few other people. We got a good tip on a place to eat lunch.
It was fabulous, and pretty cheap. I had beef and ham and bacon fried with onions and green peppers and mushrooms. It was a nice change from all of the pasta, rice, and bread we have been eating.
I´m not sure what we will do with the rest of the weekend. We may return to the ruins tomorrow to hike because it is free on Sunday. It is nice to have some down time after all of the training we just did. It was really good stuff, but dealing with your garbage and learning a whole bunch of new stuff, all in a few days, is a bit exhausting.
