I
went out walking again today. It’s nothing like my walks in Indiana.
When my best friend, Candi, and I used to walk, we would stroll along,
talking and singing. Our typical walk was about an hour long, but I’m
sure we could have walked much farther. There was only one good sized
hill in the neighborhood and it was short. Some of my best times with
Candi involved walking in my neighborhood.

Today when I went out I knew I was in for more of a work out than a
leisurely stroll. Singing isn’t really something I did, as I wanted to
conserve my breathing. As for the hills, It seems like there is just one
flat road and the rest are a variety of sizes of hills. It’s a
beautiful walk and I really enjoyed waving to all my neighbors who were
out tonight!

The great thing about tonight’s walk was that it was easier, I have been
out walking in this neighborhood a few times now, and the walk doesn’t
seem as long and the hills don’t seem as steep. The air is cooler now,
and there is a fresh, fall smell all around. I liked being out in
nature. Which is probably why I ended up walking for an hour and 45
minutes!!!

It’s
a goal of mine to start running in this roller coaster of a
neighborhood. For now I just revel in the fact that I have been pushing
myself towards more discipline in my life.
