One Night At Church (Part 2)
The second thing I noticed was as I was standing looking out over the crowd. Most of the people in the crowd were young adults (20-30’s). There seems to be a trend in the church where young and old do not worship in a corporate setting together as much anymore. Is it because our music styles are different, or because we want various atmospheres, or because of how loud the music is, or maybe it’s because the younger generation likes 7pm instead of 7am!
So my mind wondered once again…I know, I know, I’m a missionary I should be thinking about the words of the song!
But the thing is, as a young adult I know I have not taken advantage of those who have gone before me. I do not value their wisdom, knowledge and experience. I have been very blessed with amazing, godly parents. Most of my generation do not have godly influences, they come from mangled and messed up homes. I interview people all the time for AIM’s trips and the difference in the lives growing up under a good influence vs. a bad influence makes me want to cry for my generation!
If we are separated in our corporate worship time and most of the time our small groups and Bible studies as well, how are we supposed to gain the valuable wisdom of our elders? Most young adult Christians want a mentor but we don’t know how to go about finding one.
So this is my question…Who’s life are you pouring the love of God into and who is pouring that same love into you?
We can all learn more from each other. We don’t have to do this on our own!
