Botswana: Many people don’t know about it, but it’s an incredibly important country nonetheless. The people in this vibrant, flourishing country, located in the Southern part of Africa, need your prayers.
Let’s get right to it, shall we?
Pray that Botswana gets to know, accept and receive the love of Jesus Pray that God would bless each and every person in Botswana. Although there are many churches in Botswana, not all of them are focused on the Gospel. Instead, most churches believe that their members can only experience the love of God through people like “Mothers of Churches” and “Prophetesses”. Please pray that Botswana’s citizens receive the Gospel and know that Jesus is their “more than enough.”
Botswana has about 2 million citizens. 75% of them are under the age of 29. The youth really do have power in building the future of Botswana. Pray for the youth of Botswana to fall in love with Jesus, and to seek his face as they make personal decisions that will impact their local community, which will impact their country.
Many young people in Botswana are heavily influenced by their peers. Many youth are lost and confused because they haven’t yet become aware of their worth in God’s eyes. Please pray that God will show each person of Botswana his or her immeasurable value. Please pray that God will communicate to them that He has a plan, purpose and destiny for each of their lives.
HIV/AIDS is a serious epidemic here in Botswana. Due to the high level of HIV/AIDS in the country, the average life expectancy is 40 years old.
That’s right. 40 years old.
Recently, the national government has been educating its citizens about HIV/AIDS prevention. Unfortunately, even with the knowledge of how HIV/AIDS is transmitted (through the exchange of semen or blood,) people are continuing to make certain behaviors (one example, drinking) which lead people to make certain decisions (i.e. sleeping with someone) which end up leaving them with AIDS. Some of Botswana’s youth have made a pledge to wait to have sex until they are married. Please pray that they honor the pledge.
Botswana’s Presidential election is taking place on October 24, 2014. This election is extremely important, because Botswana’s citizens want to elect a president they can trust. Please pray that the citizens of Botswana will elect a President who loves and fears God, and can be a tool for God to bring Hope and Light to Botswana.
Gaberone, Botswana’s capital is currently facing a serious drought. Please pray for large amounts of rain to fall down in Gaberone. Also, please pray for ACTS church. This church is full of fun- loving brothers and sisters who really want Gaberone and the rest of Botswana to know Jesus. Please pray for this church, including the leaders, Patrick, James, and Kuan Cheen ( aka KC)
Francistown, Botswana is a gem of a town. Although it has a smaller population than Gaberone, there are still people who need to know Jesus. Please pray for the people in this town.
Please pray for endurance and strength for the foreigners living in Botswana . Whether they are missionaries, UN workers, Peace Corps students, students, employees, or tourists, please intercede for them. Please askGod to pour out endurance to do what they are doing here in Botswana with Grace and Strength.
Thank you for reading this post, taking time to learn about Botswana, and pray for its people. It means a lot to me.
XOXO
