“Miracles are everywhere. We just have to open our eyes to see them, get the wax out of our ears to hear them, gather our faith together and believe they happen, and, most importantly, open our mouths to ask and play our part in their delivery.” – Kim Harris
Back in 2011 I was sitting in the Burlington, MA, post office parking lot when I first heard of the World Race. My dream of traveling around the world to love and serve people became one step closer to being my reality.
In January 2013, at 3am on my 27th birthday, before I was even officially accepted to the World Race, wide-eyed and heart racing with excitement, I wrote myself a congratulatory card. I celebrated that I’d go on the World Race and that I wouldn’t spend a single cent of my own money on any necessary camping supplies – including a tent, a sleeping bag, a sleeping pad, or a pack.
Lying on my stomach with my pen racing across the card, my faith started to explode like fireworks.
I took a deep breath, then wrote: “I thank you, God, for providing every cent of the $16,254 I need to raise for my flights, lodging, and food, and that you’ll provide it ALL.”
My heart stopped. I stared at what I just wrote. I looked at each word in that sentence. At that moment I started to do something very special. I started to believe it!
In between the time I wrote the card (January 2013) and Launch (January 2014) the Lord provided 2 tents, a sleeping bag, a sleeping pad, 2 packs, and $7,500. By April 1st the Lord provided $11,000 of the $16,254.
My faith was alive and my trust in Him began to take root in a whole new way. I knew in my heart that the sentences I had written in January were from the Lord and were true. Along the journey of the race, my faith has been tested; my trust has been tried. Distractions were thrown into my path and my trust faltered. After continually giving energy to those distractions, I now want to turn back to Him and receive the childlike faith and complete trust I had found in Him in January.
At the end of July, as I was praying about being fully funded, the Lord asked me to challenge Him and ask Him to fully fund my whole squad by September 1st. So now I’m asking for a miracle: that I and my entire squad will be fully funded.
As of August 9th, He’s provided $14,274. All that remains is $1,979.
Today I write with the same faith that I had on my birthday. I truly believe that God’s going to supply me with the remaining $1,979 (therefore completing all 11 months of this wild journey called the World Race) and that He’ll fully fund all of my squad mates as well.
Here’s the reality. This amount is microscopic in the grand scheme of things! If 191 of my 1,250 Facebook friends donated $10.00 each, I’d be fully funded!
I am here to ask humbly if you’d pray and consider supporting me. That’s it, plain and simple.
If as you read this you get an inkling to help me out, you got it for a reason. There is no better time to donate than right now. Help me finish the race. Agree with me in prayer that I’ll be fully funded by September 1st. Join in the journey of my dream becoming my reality.
If you’d also like to share my blog with your friends and loved ones, I’d really appreciate it.
Will you help my prayer of being fully funded by September 1st come to pass?
