During this month, I’ve been challenged with staying present, focusing on Jesus, and constantly remembering that my life is not about the things I do, but who I am when I do them.
See, we can do a bunch of things in our day, but if we are not doing them lovingly, what’s the point?
We are not a human doings, we are human BEings.
Below is a poem I wrote almost 2 years ago. It’s a good reminder to me.

“In Him” Written 8/22/2012
You see it’s not about the things that I do it’s about how I do them
You see it’s not about the things that I do it’s about how I do them
‘Cause you can do lots of things, but if you don’t do them
in Him, how you gunna win?
You see sometimes I start my day with my to do list
the one that’s three months old
Still haven’t sent that email, still haven’t called that friend
So I walk to the bus with those thoughts on my soul
I dwell on what I didn’t do
And who I’m not
and suddenly I’m frowning
so I promise to do more
To work harder stonger better faster
but who am I really “workin” for?
You see it’s not about the things that I do it’s about how I do them
You see it’s not about the thigns that I do it’s about how I do them
Cuase you can do lots of things, but if you don’t’ do them
in Him, how you gunna win?
So by the afternoon the snowball of guilt
turns into an avalanche
and I’m searching for help from all of my friends
but I can’t find any anywhere
So I spend my time time calling, texting emailing too
But yet they’re all busy, what do I do?
When it suddenly dawns on me
that I just need some time on my knees
And ask the Lord for some guidance and peace
You see it’s not about the things that I do it’s about how I do them
You see it’s not about the things that I do ti’s about how I do them
Cuase you can do lots of things, but if you don’t do them
in Him, how you gunna win ?
So after having we have convo and I have some reflection
I realize I can’t buy my friends a meal to win their affection
Can’t shower my family with with empty praise
I can’t go anywhere or do anything
without requesting His love to dwell inside of me.
But I remember what Mother Theresa said,
“I cannot do great things only small things
Only small things with great Love.” and
That’s the message I want to send to you
So I go to bed, smiling and dwelling in His house
The next day I wake up, the to do list is still there,
I glance at it, smile, then go and say another prayer.
See, my own plans, my own agenda compared
To what God’s got in store for me
Is just tiddly winks
He’s got awesome stuff and I’m ready to do it….LOVINGLY
So I’ll forget the calendar on my iPhone or blackberry
In order to see a little more of what He sees.
