I’m in Africa!! This is my first week of ministry here in Chipata, Zambia. It took us quite the journey to get here, but it has been soo amazing.

I met my squad at our launch site of Atlanta, Ga. on Monday January 6th at about 5:30 in the evening after my flight was delayed twice out of STL due to weather. On Tuesday and Wednesday we all spent time with our teams and had some sessions about safety and got to know our squad leaders (our mentors and contact people who have done the World Race before and will be traveling between all the teams to check in with us along the way).

We officially left on Thursday morning taking a 2 hr flight to Detroit, an  8 hr flight from Detroit to Amsterdam, another 8 hr flight from Amsterdam to Nairobi- where we spent 12 hours in the airport waiting for our next 2 hr flight to Malawi. Once we landed in Malawi we took the bus to a local campground where we spent the night, then the next morning we took another bus to the border of Zambia, went through to get our visas, and loaded into our final buses to take all the teams to their ministry contacts in Zambia. We arrived at the Church where we are staying on Sunday evening about 6 pm- which is 11 am Central time.

Some of the ministry we are doing here is door-to-door evangelism, children’s ministry, soccer ministry, and we will also go to a clinic and hospital to clean and/or pray for people.

We have made good friends with everyone here already as the Pastor and his wife are amazing!
