As someone who has long supported a
Compassion child, I am very excited to see first hand what the life of these
children looks like. We are working with a local church that host a Compassion
International school. During the day, Wednesday through Saturday, our team
works in the classroom along side the teachers. I have always had a good idea
of what goes on because of the letters my child and I write back and forth and
also from the updates from the organization itself, but there is something so
great about seeing it upclose and personal. I know that many of you also
support Compassion children and would like to give you a glimpse of how you are
tangibly blessing the children you support!

In the classroom I have learned that these
kids learn so much more than just math, language, science, and history. Hygiene
and health are a large part of the emphasis. They each have a toothbrush at the
school and brush their teeth twice a day, something I found thoroughly
entertaining! Watching kids stand in line to brush their teeth, so excited to
get their ration of toothpaste is adorable! They also get hot meals! I have had
the pleasure of eating this food with them and I can tell you that they are fed
well! But most importantly, these kids are learning more and more about the
love of God! They pray together every day and they LOVE singing!!!! My teammate
Ashley and I got a complete concert from the 3-5 year olds and it was one of
the best concerts I have ever been to. My personal favorite was Father Abraham;
hearing it in Spanish from little kids was so special.

The teachers here are wonderful! They love
the kids and are intentional about giving them the love they deserve! They love
on these kids, some of whom have a wrong picture of love from their home lives.
I can’t imagine how difficult it is to have a student who only knows love as
hitting and to go up to that child every day, give them a hug, and whisper to
them, “this is what love looks like.” This is the harsh reality that exists.
But God is at work through the teachers and staff of Compassion here and He is
infusing this community with His love.

Your support of a Compassion child makes
all the difference. I hope you see a little more about how you are ministering
through your support.
