….I have to say it has been quite some time since I have written a blog. There have been so many things on my mind and going on in my life that blog writing has not been one of them. I will for sure be writing quite often on the trip, but then again there will be many more stories to write about.

I can not wait to be disconnected and so far gone… What I mean by this is to be  freed from the grasp that technology has on me, and us culturally. This really is nothing new. We have become so connected as a society, but many of us really have become more disconnected with FacebooktwittertextingLinkedInVineInstagramMySpace (LOL just kidding that is about as outdated as AOL), the list could go on and on. I can not wait to just get away from it, not permanently, but not constantly wired to it. There are days where I just continually check my email, hoping that a business will have donated, or I will constantly check my phone to see if anyone has texted me, like if they did not then nothing is going on and there is NOTHING to do. This is so far from the truth…

These tools all can certainly be used in a good way, and at times I do, but I want to just be able to focus on community life and my spiritual life on this trip. Don't get me wrong, the Gospel is now able to be communicated across the globe in so many ways it was not before, and the Bible talks about this. The gospel has spread SO much more because of the internet, everyone being connected, YouTube videos, ect. While this is a great avenue we did not have 100 years ago, let alone Biblical times, I would venture to say that there are still PLENTY of places where the gospel has not been spread (obviously or our great commission would be complete and we would be chilling with our Saviour right now), but in all seriousness there are still remote towns and villages with none of what we have, and this is why we GO. This is why the World Race exists.

(Unknown village, or at least to google)

There is a great quote that I have heard many times and I try to live by. It does not always work out when I am preoccupied, or when I am worrying about things out of my control, which I do way too much (I am working on it – Holy Spirit please work in that area of my life)  It is something that I believe Jesus would approve of and something we should live out on the World Race. Without further ado…

This is such a great one… especially to Christ followers. Jesus wants time from us each day to focus only on him and his word. If we are there, but we are mentally checked out, or addicted to technology interrupting us, or worrying about things we can not control, then we are not the embodiment of this quote. While we are on our mission's trip, there will be many different ministries we will be a part of and we will be a part of so many different experiences, that whatever country I am in, and whatever we are doing, I want to be all there.
