Hello there. My name is Kevin. I am a Christian missionary traveling the world. Crazy right? I thought I should to reintroduce myself, since it’s been over a month since my last blog update.
The last thing I left you with was that the squad and my team were headed northbound to Bulgaria and Serbia for month two of ministry. My team along with one other partnered with a great church in Sofia, Bulgaria for the month of August. We worked in a variety of different ways during the course of our time there, including teaching English and serving as role models for a children’s summer camp. We did daily work at a church daycare center south of Sofia for most of the month, taught in an art school and taught more English lessons and practical education to kids of all ages. Some of the guys on our two teams dug a large trench to help support the foundation of our ministry home and campus we stayed at as well as cleaned out, organized, painted and spruced up a local church. Most days we traveled about 3-hours of time on bus and metro train public transportation, which got pretty exhausting after awhile. All in all, we did a vast array of things in August and we were blessed to meet so many wonderful people.
The coolest moments for me in month number two, was the opportunity to lead in English lessons for children ages 7-15 with my logistics partner in crime Alex. We were able to teach them about the human body, animals, fruits and vegetables, directions on a compass and much more. Going into it, I felt it was unlikely that it would enjoyable, and more importantly that I wouldn’t be an effective educator. God showed me up though, as the kids seemed extremely engaged and I didn’t want to stop teaching. Pretty pumped about that. Really pumped actually.
Logistics Month 2: Alex, Brad and I had our challenges once again as we continue to learn how to get 53 Americans around the world incident free. The bus from Albania to Bulgaria went nearly perfect which was awesome. The squad was split between Bulgaria and Serbia, so we assisted in getting everyone to their ministries safely, and then back to Sofia, Bulgaria to travel here to Romania for month 3. One of our squad-mates is still trying to get their India Visa, so a bunch of time has been spent trying to get that wrapped up. We worked diligently on our end of month Debrief, which took place in the beautiful town of
Brasov, Romania. Debrief was a great experience and I think went pretty well from the reviews that were offered from my fellow racers.
For month 3, we are serving in the nation of Romania. Update on what this month will look like is coming soon!
Love and miss you all back home in Michigan…
Talk again soon!
