I don’t have much time and don’t even know where to start describing training camp. All I can say is I’m worn out and on experiential overload. What’s happened in the past couple days have already completely rattled mental processing. From being exposure to massive differences in worship styles to swimming across a lake in street clothes while carrying firewood over my head… it’s been a VERY interesting week so far. I have to boast right now though before I m
ove on because a special thing happened during a team building activity. A squad dance-off was held and I pridefully state that my team of 5 brought it and won first place. I definitely got funky with my dance moves. Speaking of funky though I don’t mind not taking showers and re-wearing clothes from the day before (forget shaving). I find out who my team members are today so pray for that but I’ve met a lot of the guys and we’ve connected well. I’m comforted to know that the majority of my squad members are laid back and more reserved unlike another squad that leaves in July that’s joined us at training camp. I’m starting to settle into the outdoor life, I actually feel more alive living outdoors. The sleep could be much improved upon but it was very peaceful last night sleeping under the stars away from my tent (my squad was told to abandon base camp and spend a night on a remote island). Sounds and feels much like I’m on the TV show Survivor. Which in my case is my goal for this week, to survive the scarcity of food and sleep along with a lot physical activity.
