A tale of two churches.
One church focuses all their energy into social causes. Another church focuses all their energy into the personal indwelling of Christ. I’ve been involved in both types of churches and it amazes me how different two churches can be. It seems every church focuses either on the incarnational gospel or the social gospel and each church uses scripture to argue their case. My goal is that when I go overseas not only will I be meeting the needs of people physically but also spiritually. I think meeting these two needs is important not only for me but for every local church. Its easy to focus too much on the spiritual if your an evangelist and neglect the physical. Likewise its easy to focus too much on the physical if your strengths revolve around servanthood. My hope is that we can balance spreading the Gospel with meeting the needs of the least of these.
