As you already know, my name is Kevin Ozolins, but many have taken to calling me KJ. Throughout my life, I have developed a passion for Christ, for people, and for the outdoors. I love to do anything that involves being outside; mountain biking, snowboarding, disc golf, hiking, camping, sleeping in hammocks, kayaking, well, you pretty much get the point; I love being outside. This love of all things outdoors stems from my love for God for, as Rob Bell states in his book, Sex God, “How you treat the creation reflects how you feel about the Creator.” My love for people also stems from my love for God and His love for people. I love life, but even more, I love to share life with people.
So I suppose you are wondering how I got introduced to the World Race. If this is the case, you’ve come to the right place because I am about to tell you. It is not an exciting story, but it is a story that has provoked a lot of excitement for me. My introduction to the world race was quite simple. I was talking to my friend, Poochie, one day, and we started talking about doing a missions trip together. He had heard of another trip that AIM (Adventures in Missions) does, and he sent me the link to it. As I was browsing around the site, I stumbled upon the description of the World Race, and I fell in love with it. A few weeks later, I was applying to be a part of it, and the rest is history.
Why did the World Race appeal to me? I have always loved traveling and seeing new places, and for the past few years, I had the desire to drive across the country with a friend of mine, just to experience that kind of life. Over the past few years, I have also developed a passion for the unloved. Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to love God, and the next one is to love others. Throughout the world, I know that there are so many people who don’t know the meaning of the word “love,” and I want to bring the love of Christ to them where they are.
Anyway, I’ll be blogging on here pretty regularly, so feel free to join my journey as I prepare for the world race and, eventually, as I take on this great experience.
