“For we walk by faith, and not by sight”
-2 Corinthians 5:7
Faith may be the biggest little word of all time. When you really sit and think about it, faith is the base, or foundation, of all life. Everyone goes through life subconsciously choosing to walk by faith every single day. We have faith in the house we live in and in the people that built it. We have faith that the walls won’t collapse in on us. We have faith that the other drivers on the road will stay in their lane (well, sometimes). We have faith that the barista making our coffee each morning really does put reduced fat milk in there instead of some weird cream or creamer. Even the most cautious and skeptical people exercise their faith muscles without even realizing it. If you were to reflect on your daily routine, you would definitely be surprised at how many faith reps you do throughout the day.
Now, think about this. If faith is the foundation of all life, and faith is defined as “the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen”. That means that the foundation of all life, a.k.a. the important stuff, is based around “the evidence of things not seen”.
This is the part that I really love. We are making faith based decisions all the time whether we think so or not. So, why don’t we all just consciously decide to walk by faith and not by sight daily? Think about how much greater the outcome will be when we place ourselves in positions for things to happen. An 11 month mission around the world may not be the right step for you, but the simple belief that there is always opportunity for greater things from your life is a step in the right direction. A step that requires faith; that very BIG little word.
