Things I learned on my 43 hour travel session from ATL to NYC:

·         Drooling on the floor in the Savannah Bus Station warrants for a Caution Wet Floor sign.
·         Dancing and parkour to pass time are not socially acceptable, but they bring smiles to faces.
·         Actual Greyhound bus stations are always put in the grimiest part of every town.
·         Southern people fry everything!
·         Jesus is relevant all day, every day.
·         Pencil thin handlebar mustaches are really creepy on people standing in low lit areas.
·         Never mess with pregnant women while they are waiting in lines.
·         Not all elderly people give the best advice.
·         Trail mix is not a fun snack for those lacking many teeth.
·         There is such a thing as too many carry-on items.
·         Buses overheat and lose power often.
·         Substitute bus drivers are much less pleasant than I remember substitute teachers being.
·         Richmond, VA is all about fireworks!
·         Leonardo Da Vinci invented scissors.
·         Few people enjoy being told how they should feel after a bus has been delayed 5 hours.
·         Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell = Upset stomachs.
·         Combination Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Popeye’s = Very upset stomachs.
·         Just because everyone around you is feeling a certain way doesn’t mean you have to feel that way too.

There is always this unseen movement of wanting to fit in. I stared down many furious, border line violent, faces screaming at people because of things that were way beyond their control. Some were yelling because they were unsure of how to let out their emotions; others to get a reaction out of the people around them. Amidst the mob of angry patrons, I found myself letting their emotions get to me. Then, I realized I just wasn’t angry. I just wasn’t. Tired, maybe, but, it was like the fact that I wasn’t getting mad set others off. Strange.

P.S. The New York City skyline was a great Welcome Home present. Thank you guys for spending so much time on little old me!
