Today, we had team changes. Though I am excited for this next season, My last team will always have a special place in my heart and has had a huge impact on my life.
Team Elohim, this is for you! The women that have refined, loved, and shaped me so much for the last 4 months, could never be replaced. And I know each one of them is a lifelong friend and sister in The Lord!
Here is what I wrote about how this team has impacted me during our last month together 🙂
Why team Elohim is amazing:
If I could summarize this team in one word, it would be trust. We began our journey together both physically and spiritually at the foot of the cross. Each one of us came from hard teams and were ready to completely surrender our new team to The Lord. We each knew that God was the only one who could bring understanding to why he put this odd group together, and we knew that without him as the common thread, we would be walking into confusion.
We wanted a life giving team. Every single one of us was ready to do whatever it took to have a healthy team. As we each individually went to God for guidance, he brought us all onto the same page. This was our first “woah, God is fighting For this team” moment. We knew God wanted to do something powerful and big with our team- he was telling us all the same things in different ways and it was beautiful to come together and share that as we saw God lead us to our team name.
The Perspective is healthy on our team.
We don’t try to figure things out in our own head, we know the best way to figure things out will be revealed through working through things with our teammates. We each recognize that God is working in each one of us, and we want to encourage and be a part of everything He is doing in one another. We see each other through Gods eyes. Meghan set the tone for that on day one and has continued to reestablish it daily. It’s the only way we can be more like Jesus, is if we see each other how he does.
There isn’t any unspoken heaviness. We know that each other’s hearts are in a good place, so we can easily trust each other’s words and actions. We fully trust each other enough to share every small or big struggle, and trust each other’s intentions toward one another in the small things too.
Boldness in truth, sharing, and correcting. Boldness in feelings. We aren’t scared to correct in love, because we recognize it as Jesus talking to his daughter, not just correcting each other out of disagreement.
We truly live out that the best way to become more like Jesus is to “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ”.
We’ve chosen to be known and to know. We don’t operate out of fear because fear is in the unknown. When all is known and accepted, we have no room for fear.
There’s no room for lies, because we walk so strongly in the truth. We each know what God is doing and saying, so there’s no room to question our team. Meghan established this tone in the very beginning- that we would walk in Gods truth and leave no room for confusion or lies.
We don’t sit back and wait for stuff to happen, we choose and do because we have no fear of being condemned for failures. We know our teammates fully accept us and support us.
We have fun together. We laugh. We can be lighthearted but also serious. We walk in the Holy Spirit, so our mood always has a common thread leading us to either lighthearted joy or intensity about the gospel.
Being on team Elohim has changed my life and my race. This team is one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever been given.
At first glance, I thought I was receiving such a blessing because I had people on my new team who liked to go do things and to go running. But it was so much more that just that!
I feel so challenged on this team, in the healthiest way I’ve ever felt challenged. I feel deeply loved, seen, and valued. I want to be more like Jesus, and be more of The Kerry God has made me to be simply because I’m with them. I want to play my part on this team even better, because I love each of my teammates so genuinely and know that the love me the same. I know that things flow better the more we become like the unity we will have in heaven, so I consistently am driven to want more of that.
God abides and delights in this team. Everything about team Elohim is Jesus- the God who took our nothings and created something amazing out of our surrender.
