How would I describe Sophia? In five words energetic,
graceful, loving, passionate and moving.
Sophia and her husband Joelle are leaders at a local
Vineyard church in Odessa, Ukraine. This Sunday I saw Sophia’s heart as she
spoke on worship and my conclusion is that she HAS IT!
What I mean by “has it? Sophia has this irascible,
unexplainable, enthusiasm for the heart of God. Her love for her Savior is
written all over her face and as she spoke it made my own heart sing, “I just
want more of you Jesus!
I came to church dry and thirsty and left full.
Worship is written in our genetic code. We were born to
worship our Lord.
Miriam led God’s people in worship as they left Egypt out of
slavery
(Exodus 15:19-21.)
David worshiped the Lord extravagantly before the Lord as
the Ark of the Tabernacle was returned home after the Philistines captured it. (2Samuel
6:12-15)
Paul and Silas worshiped the Lord all night in jail, even
after they were severely beaten. (Acts 16:16-40)
All of these situations could have been disastrous. However, each person choose to praise our Lord with every fiber of
their being.
“The year is 1744, Hymn writer Charles Wesley is in Leads, England,
holding a prayer meeting in an upstairs room. Suddenly there is a creak in the
floorboards, followed by a massive crack, and the whole floor collapse. All 100
people crash right through the ceiling into the room below. The place is in
chaos-some are screaming, some crying, some just sit in shock. But as the dust
settles, Wesley, wounded and lying in a heap, cries out, “Fear not! The Lord is
with us; our lives are all safe. And then he breaks out into the doxology:
“Praise God, from whom all blessings flow- perhaps a bizarre choice of songs
considering what has just happened! But here’s the point; while everyone else
was still licking their wounds, the heart of this unstoppable worshipper was
responding with unshakable praise. Told by Matt Redman
This is what I desire… to have an unshakable, unstoppable,
movement of the Spirit flowing in my life. With the purpose of of every word I
say, everyone I touch is affected by the living power of the almighty God that
is in me.
Do you understand this for yourself? It does not matter what
circumstances surround your life and occupy your space, mind and heart. You are
made to express your love to our LORD. He is worthy of your worship. He is
worthy to be praised.
Psalm 99:1-5
The LORD reigns let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned
between the cherubim let the earth shake. Great is the LORD in Zion; he is
exalted over all the nations. Let them praise your great and awesome name- he
is holy. The King is mighty he loves justice- you have established equity; in
Jacob you have done what is just and right. Exalt the LORD our God and worship
at his footstool; he is holy.
Are you thirsty? Then come to the fountain and find
refreshment for your soul.
Drink deep His love for you? Let it overwhelm you.
Holy Spirit I ask that you will sanctify your servants that
we can truly see you face to face. Cleanse us with your power and wash us anew
today. May our worship drip off of us like sweat pouring down upon your feet!
Jesus may you be glorified daily through our actions and deeds. Set us apart to
do your will, set us apart so we can be like you. Change us; compel us to know
and to be known by you.
We worship you for who you are.
YOU ARE HOLY
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL
YOU ARE GOOD
YOU ARE LOVELY
YOU ARE FREEDOM
YOU ARE MAKER
YOU ARE KINDNESS
YOU ARE GRACIOUS
YOU ARE REDEMMER
YOU ARE DADDY
YOU ARE FRIEND
YOU ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR ME!
