Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be
self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus
Christ is revealed. As obedient children do not conform to the evil desires you
had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you his holy so be
holy in all you do; for it is written; “Be holy because I am holy.
-1 Peter 1:13
Last month, the Lord spoke to me to write a blog about
holiness. Ever since that day, I have been dreading to write this blog because
what I have to say isn’t easy, nor will be taken lightly. So here we go…
Live your life as a new creation!
I am tired of seeing Christians living their lives like
nothing has changed them. Christ bled and died for you. His blood is supposed
to stain your life and transform you from the inside out.
No wonder we are not seeing miracles, signs and wonders. We
have grieved the Holy Spirit and are not living the life He wants us to live.
“Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; do not treat prophecies
with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May you
whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians
5:19-24
We are squandering our life, just as the prodigal son
squandered his money.
Yes, we have a gracious and loving Father, who will run and
chase us down and lavish His kisses upon us, when we return home.
However, we are playing with fire when we play with the
devil.
This world is not our home, “we are not of this world, but
in this world.
Philippians 2:14-15 says, “Do everything without complaining
or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without
fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like the stars
in the universe.
We are meant to be different, to stand out.
1 John 1:15-17 says, “Do not love the world or anything in
the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For
everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and
the boasting of what he has and does- comes not from the Father but from the
world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of
God lives forever.
1 Peter 2:
11-12 says, “Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to
abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives
among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your
good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
“But you, man of God, flee from all this and pursue
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good
fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when
you made your good confession.
1 Timothy
6:11-12
We will want to live this life, because we love Him.
“This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his
commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This
is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that
overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 1John
5:1-5
I encourage you to get right with the Lord. Pursue a life
that is worth Jesus dying. Don’t be persuaded by the things of this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your mind, heart and soul.
This is my prayer for all believers and it was Jesus prayer
in John 17:15-19, “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but
that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I
am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me
into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself,
that they too may be truly sanctified.
