Gardening is hard work especially when you start from seed. This past summer I decided to grow a garden in my backyard. My roommate and I agreed to try and grow some flowers from seed. We went to a store and bought the cheapest seeds we could find and we immediately planted the seeds. But we were not careful with these seeds. We put several seeds in one cup holder, some fell and some well simply got lost. What ended happening was suppose to be “flowers” but became climbing weeds. They were ugly, limb, green plants that would have been beautiful flowers if we only read the instructions carefully.

I think this is how we are with God. He gives us the seeds and says, “go ahead, start planting but first let me give you some advice.” But instead of listening to Him, we think we know how to do things and start planting without the key instructions. We all have been given seeds to sow but where you sow is important. There are many times we think we can do things without God. Then we miserably fail and He is just lovely waiting for us to say okay I give up, please show me what to do!

This month while helping out with YWAM Jubilee and Call2all I was reminded of my own seeds. God has placed in my hands seeds to sow. Have I done my job correctly? Or is there room for more improvement? Even at the two conference did I do my job correctly? Have I planted seeds and equipped people to walk into their purpose and destiny? I don’t want to be a lazy worker who carelessly throws their seeds around without looking. I don’t want to be a stubborn worker who sees the great harvest but refuses to help the few workers who are in the field. No I want to get my hands dirty and be grateful for what God has given me! It is a honor to be chosen. It is a honor to serve the Lord.

“This is my prayer in the harvest
When favor and providence flow
I know I’m filled to be emptied again
The seed I’ve received I will sow”  -Hillsong United
