I’m a loner.
Yeah, I actually like to do things alone.
I love driving, shopping, running, relaxing….ALONE.
Here I am, preparing for this WORLD RACE trip, and I’m like HOLD UP.
I’m about to travel to 11 different countries, for 11 months, with over 40 other people.
…BUT I AM A LONER!!?!
Well you see…humans, we can’t do life alone. We are part of a community oriented universe. Community is essential.
I was thinking. And this whole “community” thing is actually not so scary. Because God within himself is community. The father, the son, and the Holy Spirit.
God created US for a purpose. WE are here to reflect HIS image.
If you think about it, it is IMPOSSIBLE to fulfill our purpose alone.
You know, the church was Gods idea. Yes, HE created the church. The church is imperative to the health of society.
Why you ask? Because, WE the people, are the church. And what is more important than others seeing Jesus- through us?
Sooo, as far as fulfilling my purpose on this planet. I actually need community- to reflect Jesus to this world.
We are not isolated individuals. We can’t be. We need each other.
This whole idea of community, these many thoughts in my little mind, all sparked from 1 Peter 2. (Read it if ya can, gooood stuff.)
I am a rock. You are a rock. We are rocks. Yep, that’s what the word says.
WE are living building material. And He wants to build something with OUR lives.
The reason I’m saved, is not so I can do “my own little thing”…
It’s like rocks that make up a house. If us “rocks” were not put together, then nothing ever actually gets done.
But really, ha, how exciting is an individual rock? Boring. There is no use in a rock that lays by itself.
Church is the called out people of God. God chose us. He’s building the church so He can be seen in the cities. The church. It is the glue of our community. Wow!!
What makes the church unique? His name is Jesus. As a church, OUR strength is Jesus.
Let’s give Jesus the ball and get out of the way.
Jesus is THE living stone. All of OUR lives our interconnected through THE living stone. We must allow him to wow us everyday.
And because I am part of this COMMUNITY, I am SO EXCITED.
I am ready to NOT be a LONER; for I have been chosen by God, to join with others, and ultimately to reflect HIS LOVE.
1 Corinthians 12 says…
“Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.”
On the race, me and my other squad mates will come together- with many different gifts, but with one sole purpose… and that is, to serve OUR GOD.
All of this to say, I am most certainly positive I will still need my “loner” time. Haaaa.
But! Now, I am even more PUMPED to join with my squad, and be the COMMUNITY that Jesus has called us to be.
Let’s do this, R squad.
