Romania has been a fabulous surprise.
SInce we’ve arrived our ministry has looked different each day. That in itself has been a blessing. When life is dynamic it conduces creativity and I cannot even explain how much of a godsend it is to have that atmosphere this month. We’re partnered with Casa Shalom in Bucharest this month. Our contact, Becky, is such a passionate woman. I’ve already learned so much from her and we’ve been here three days. She has a clothing ministry in which she visits villages and churches and donates clothes that are first donated to her organization. She spends a lot of time visiting people in villages and maintaining relationships. She has brought so many visions to life and passed them on to others while she goes on to start other ministries.
Since we’ve been here three days I’ve been amazed at the poverty that exists in a big city. There are many villages within the city where multiple families live in an apartment the size of my bedroom. The roads in the vilages are muddy dirt roads in which your car could get lost in a puddle. The kids run around in shorts and tshirts because they don’t have the proper clothing. I’m standing beside them in my socks and boots and double layered gloves still chilled to the bone. Poverty even in Eastern Europe has such a different face than it does in America. My ‘world’ is constantly getting shattered and my eyes are opened more and more each day. These kids were full of smiles and excitement despite the fact that their teeth were chattering. I don’t have pictures yet of the villages but you better believe they’re coming!

Romanians are beautiful. Most of them think Americans are ridiculous. We eat too much and we talk too loud. They know us well. Every church and village we’ve been to have made an impact. Their eyes are so full of appreciation and we haven’t even done anything! I know we handed them clothes or shared a word but they’ve impacted us more than I expected which has been the case so far on the race.
I cannot wait to update more on what is going on here. I have felt more alive here in Romania. I could blame it on many things.
