Today our whole squad went on a safari!!
Zebras, gazelle, and baboons are very similar to deer and squirrels in
the states – in that they are ubiquitous! Driving on the highway, you see them
just hanging out or trying to cross without getting hit. It’s pretty crazy to
see them roaming around outside a cage.
We entered the Wildlife Park waaaaaay later than we had hoped…the
sun was now beating down on the savannah, causing the lions to seek out shade –
hence, it was doubtful that we would see them. =(
I searched for these hidden kings throughout the savannah as Patrick drove us down the bumpy, dirt trails in his large, white matatu. When your eyes are intensely
scanning for creatures, you begin to see things…trees began to look like giraffes,
and bushes looked like lions to me.
While we never did see a single
lion, we did see rhino, gazelle, zebras, baboons, monkies, water buffalo,
waterbucks, flamingos, pelicans, some creepy, gigantic bird, warthogs, and guineas.
Don’t worry! I have pictures to prove it 😉 they’re coming soon!
until then, below
is a video about our ministry in Kenya this past month:
