A little insight into our life over the past four days…
Wednesday, January 4th
12:30am Go to sleep after a long night of preparing to leave Central America, journaling, and praying for my team
3:30am Wake up on an island off of Nicaragua after two days of team changes. Pack up backpack and tent.
4:30am Load 50 backpacks on a horse and buggy, hike a half mile to the other side of the island, load backpacks from buggy to a large canoe.
5:00am Unload packs from canoe onto a chicken bus and pack in for a hour long ride to the Managua Airport.
10:00am Arrive at the Managua Airport.
1:30pm Board aiplane to fly to Atlanta, GA at 2:00pm
3:45pm Get off plane, still in Managua, and wait until broken pipe on airplane is fixed.
5:00pm Get back on plane.
5:30pm Lift off from Nicaragua!
11:00pm Arrive in Atlanta, Georgia. Slight time change- we move ahead one hour, it's midnight in Georgia.
Thursday, January 5th
1:00am Arrive safely at the hotel, eat Chick-fil-a, take a HOT shower, do laundry, repack. (No sleeping included)
4:00am Leave hotel and head to aiport.
7:00am Board flight for Los Angleles.
7:30am Leave Atlanta and head for Los Angeles.
12:00pm Arrive at LAX, where the time changes to 9:00am. We start a 12 hour layover.
10:00am Rent a car with my team to eat lunch, hit Target, REI and Trader Joe's for things I have been dreaming about for months (dark chocolate, cliff bars, a new water bottle, socks, Benadryl to rub all ove my 78 mosquito bites… all the neccesities)
10:20pm Board plane to South Korea
10:45pm Goodbye America!
Friday, January 6th
Here is where it gets tricky
1:00pm (California time) We arrive in South Korea, only to find out we have time traveled to the future and it is actually January 7th at at 4:00am after a 14 hour plane ride.
Saturday, January 7th
4:00am Arrive in South Korea, and prepare for our third 12 hour layover.
4:55pm Board our last flight- Thailand here we come!
12:00am Get off plane in Thailand, can't even think of how many days it has been since I have slept.
12:30am Take a tuk tuk truck and arrive at YYAM headquarters in Bangkok.
12:31am Thank the Lord that we all made it safely and I pass out on my incredibly missed air matress!
We are staying in Bangkok for two days to do cultural training, then we are taking a bus to Chiang Rai, 11 hours North of here to start working with the Khaodee Children's Home. I am so excited!
