So, I wrote a pretty raw and vulnerable “About Me” section last week. I do that because I kind of go overboard with telling who I am because I want people to actually like ME—not who they THINK I am. So, I laid it all out there, and I absolutely love it, because there is more of God’s power in my story than anything I could offer. Where sin is great, His grace is more! I LOVE HIS PURSUIT SO MUCH!
I wanted to write a little more lighter blog about who I am—but how do you just write about yourself randomly? Haha. So, I asked all my family and friends and I got some pretty awesome answers.
My Dad said “Your love for serving The Lord in harsh and dangerous conditions. The fact that you are really a big ole scaredy cat but will go to Haiti to serve. THAT’S random.” *This cracks me up, because it’s so true. There’s something about the presence of the Lord, huh? J
My sweet Momma said, “Obviously mine is your ‘Tricky’ dance…especially when its in an intersection in Knoxville, Tn!!! Oh… and your ability to get me a traffic ticket without ME being there.” That whole “Tricky” dance is a secret, and people outside of my family don’t get to see that J And speeding tickets? Psh. Me?!? Never.
My sister Mandy said, “You somehow have a sense of exactly when I need to talk to you…and you call. Also- your completely 100% kind heart.” It’s an awesome thing to have so many sisters and it’s even better when they are all your best friends! J
My second oldest sister Sammi said. “I love how when I was at my lowest when Aidan was in the hospital that you stayed with me and not only lifted Aidan’s spirits. But you lifted mine. A moment I will never forget.” I was so thankful and blessed to be a part of my sweet nephew’s cancer battle in a tangible way, the Lord was so faithful during this time!
My other sister Jessica said, “I love how quick you can make us all laugh…. You’re quick witted.” I think the number one thing I want to do, is make people happy. It’s my heart’s beat.
My little sister Kayla said, “You’re the loudest person I know, but it never gets annoying! Truthfully. And your heart is bigger than anyone I know. You would take a bullet for Hitler.” I absolutely LOVEDD the way she worded this. I am really loud, and given that I am ½ deaf, I use the excuse all the time that I can’t hear myself as loud as y’all can J
My baby sister Anna said, “That you can literally bust out in a song or dance in any given moment, without warning and it always make everyone around you laugh.” Again, my heart’s beat!
My childhood friend since 2nd grade Sara said, “That you sleep with a light on, or you hate velvet, or you love Mexicans.” This is such an answer of a friend that has known me all my life. Don’t ask me about the velvet thing. It’s weird, I know.
My friend Lisa who I absolutely adore said. “That I am a Gemini because it influences me more. Or my whole hearing experience. Ooo that you have a Great Dane and that you have to FEED him so much! Um you also do this thing with your hands.” We click so well. It’s probably the Gemini thing J
Another friend said, “That you can text super fast underneath the table without even looking at the stinking keyboard. I also love how gullible you are and the face you make when you realize that you just fell for it! And that you say ‘shit’” This is just an awesome answer because it is someone who I don’t have to pretend around AT ALL. It’s straight perfection. And I can say whatever I want, he doesn’t give a shit.
My brother in law Nathan said, “You just can’t seem to remember the names of the Harry Potter books even though you’ve heard them a million times.” Y’all I care nothing about Harry Potter. This so isn’t fair.
My friend Jessica who I have known for nearly a decade said, “The fact that I never have to guess what you’re feeling. You wear your heart on your sleeves and you always say what you mean.” I love that she sees this, because it’s so important to me to be transparent! J
My sweet friend Megan said “You are strong and don’t take crap from people and you take selfies to express yourself and your mood.” I take selfies. Oops, my bad. J
My friend Amanda said, “Your facial expressions are priceless.” Yeah, I have been told they are pretty dramatic. Yikes.
My hilarious Grandmother said, “You’re so spontaneous and you’re so joyful. Oh, and I love how clean your bedroom is.” There is absolutely NO sarcasm in any part of that- AT ALL.
So there are some random facts about me from the people who know me best! J
And just a few that I find important to me J
-I adore being an Aunt and find it the most rewarding thing to love a bunch of kiddos that my sweet sisters had a part in creating. Just a beautiful thing.
-I absolutely love playing sports.
-I could, however, watch T.V. all day long.
-I am fascinated with the details of things. I love that the Lord has been intentional about the small things.
-I am obsessed with my planner/budget folder.
-I genuinely never care where I eat.
-I speak in a pretty direct tone, but really do mean well. (Unless I am being a total hag, and that comes every now and again J)
-I sometimes close my eyes and picture Jesus holding me, and I am overwhelmed with His peace.
-I find it an incredible joy to be able to serve Him. When I go through hardships and don’t know what else to do, I picture myself touching his cloak as He walks by. It’s always been enough.
-I sort of have an insecurity issue and fear that people won’t like me.
And by sort of have – I mean I do have it for sure.
-I am madly in love with Jesus and I screw up daily.
-I have seen that His love outweighs my sin and that makes Him great, not myself.
-I am straight STOKED to go on the World Race.
So, here’s a little bit more about who I am. I’d love to hear about who you all are! J
