Dear Friends and Family,
Hello! I hope this letter finds you well. I am so excited to share with you what has been going on in my life lately. I am currently attending Columbia State Community College where I am studying biology. I also work as a nanny for two of the cutest children ever! God has been using and teaching me in so many ways lately. One of those is through a calling toward the mission field. I have recently applied and been accepted to “The World Race serving alongside an organization called Adventures in Mission. There I will be backpacking as an ambassador for Christ!
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries. I will be leaving for this journey on July 1, 2010. Currently the complete race route is tentative, but I do have six confirmed locations. We will begin our journey in the Dominican Republic, and then we will travel next door to Haiti, country recently devastated by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake. The other confirmed locations are Turkey, Mozambique, Romania and Cambodia. I will know more of the locations in the months to come. Some of the ministries we will be working with include teaching AIDs prevention, working with orphans, preaching in red light districts in Asia, teaching English, and gypsy outreach. Places which may be included, are: Ireland, Hungary, Ukraine, Israel, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Swaziland, Thailand, South Africa, India or Eastern Europe.
I am so excited to share this journey with you! The thing I want to learn most from this trip is to be selfless; this trip is not about me, it is about spreading the Word to those with no hope, to be God’s hands and feet, and help those who long for salvation. The race is going to scary and challenging. But, I know with God’s strength and the prayers and support from family and friends, this is going to be the most rewarding thing I have ever experienced.
In the Bible, the number 40 held great significance. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights when God wanted to cleanse the world and start again. Moses was on the mountain with God for 40 days (twice). The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness. I have chosen to use the importance of 40 when trying to gain support for this mission. I am asking 40 people or families to commit prayerfully and financially with me for 9 months. If only 40 people committed 40 dollars a month for 9 months I will have enough money to launch for the race! These monthly pledges can be made through my personal blog. I need $15,000 to be able to go! This cost will cover all of my meals, lodging, air and land travel, administrative costs, insurance and training camp costs for the entire 11 months. Although I know not everyone is able to make this commitment. ANY pledge will help tremendously!!
I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope which invites you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures In Missions. Including the enclosed card will provide AIM with all necessary information. In turn, they will send you a receipt. I must have 60% of the total trip costs in my account before leaving, this may help you with a time frame on when to provide. Adventures In Missions is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Donors will receive receipts for their gifts with the understanding that the disbursement of those gifts lies completely at the discretion of Adventures In Missions and that the gifts are non-refundable and non-transferable, per IRS regulations. Gifts may be tax deductible; please consult a tax advisor.
I would genuinely appreciate any support you are able to provide! Your support is what is going to make it possible for me to spread God’s love throughout the nations. I know He has something amazing planned for my entire team and the people we will come into contact with during the 11 months we will minister. I really need your prayers during this process. I also cannot afford to abandon my comforts and lifestyle to serve the poor, without your financial partnership. I feel so strongly that Christ has put this on my heart for a reason. I hope that you will prayerfully consider becoming a part of this amazing ministry. I am so grateful to have friends and family like you to support me during this process. Thank you so much in advance. May The Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.
In Him,
Kendra Floyd
