Joy – it is the first word I think of when I think of Zambia

The people, the culture, the music, the work ethic, the priority of relationship over everything else –

I arrived to Zambia in a bit of a funk, but I left rejuvenated, inspired, and full of joy again.

Our whole squad was able to live and serve together again for a 2nd and final all-squad month.

The 22 of us spent our month in Ndola, Zambia with Mobile Missions Maintenance (MMM).

MMM is a multi-faceted ministry that provides classes and training to a multitude of learners both in the classroom and out in surrounding villages. Additionally, they serve as a base for national and international teams to come, learn, serve, and rest.

Our primarily ministry was teaching professional development classes on the base.  During our time we were able to offer classes on finance, hospitality, management, music, leadership, English and writing, computer technology, and a few others.

In our finance class we asked our students to construct budgets for a mock business and present them to the class.

In our English and writing class we discussed things such as grammar and research papers, and offered our experience on teaching English as an additional language.

This is one of our English students who is going to make an incredible primary school teacher!

Our classes were taught from 8:30-10:30 and then from 11:30-13:30.  In the hour off in between we were able to spend time fellow-shipping and sharing ‘tea and bread’ as they say.

As is always the case, getting to know these students was the best part of the month.

On the weekends, our host took us out into the villages where MMM is offering classes in churches or community buildings.  On this occasion we were able to sit with some of the women in the a sewing class and hear their stories.

In addition to all our students, we also had the opportunity to live life with some incredible humans that worked at MMM.  Aunt Rose (left) and Sarah (right) were two of the people that brought joy to the compound every day.

And while it may not be the best quality photo, this is our host, Aunt Flo, speaking at church.  She was such a blessing to us and continues to be a blessing to MMM, Ndola, and the surrounding communities.
