When we arrived here in Windhoek, Namibia, we met a girl in the hostel we are staying in named Gracie. She is a Christian and perhaps meeting her was the reason God led us here. She is going to start an orphanage with the governments help. She is from Oregon just like our teammate Michelle.
The second day here, we decided to go on a prayer walk around Windhoek. It was a time just to listen to how God has been leading us. We ended up going to the town park and just sitting an praying there. As I was sitting by near the statue in the center of the park, I dude walked up and said hi. His name is Franky and he is a fairly outgoing guy, but he was just trying to sell me weed and ecstasy. I said I didn’t need to feel better as he put it and that the reason I didn’t need to do those things is that God is the one who sustains me and I don’t need anything like what he was offering me.
He then explained his own views on God and what he thought God was like and it was so sad. He is 32 and doesn’t really have his own place. He has a daughter, but the mother won’t let him near her because he doesn’t have a job and can’t provide support. His view on the world was a bit off and he thought as long as he didn’t hurt anyone with his smoking weed then it is okay to do. Please pray for him as I let God speak through me to him if I see him again in the future
Here is the main blog about Gracie that Meredith wrote.
