We are awaiting deployment to Nauta which is about two hours by bus from here in Iquitos. Nauta (18,000 people) is a lot smaller than Iquitos (400,000 people). We will be living on a barge there in Nalta and I know the mosquitos are going to be bad. Please pray for me and my squad as we are stretched during this time. The cities we are in now are large cities, so we are kind of on the edge of the jungle.
We haven’t had internet all this past week because we were in debrief north of Lima Monday through Friday. I didn’t really know what to expect of debrief, but I was really glad to learn that it is a time to recharge. I had been very tired physically, emotionally, and spiritually and being there was exactly what I needed to regroup. We had Pastor Mike fly in to meet us and there were some great times of sharing and teaching.
Our Tranlators were such awesome people and shared a passion and love with us for Jesus Christ. Their names are from left to right: Richard, Gladys, Carlos, Vanessa, and Dina. Richard has a heart for the people in the highlands of Peru and is trying to start a missionary effort to reach them. He has a call to coordinate and translate for missionaries who come from the United States and Canada. If any of you have a desire to come down here, the costs are very minimal and you would really grow in your love for God and the Peruvian people like I have. The harvest is ripe there too. From hearing stories from last years racers who visited there the harvest is ripe.
I’ve grown in a lot of ways in the past month, and I have fallen in love with this place. I don’t know if it will be like this in all the places we go but it has been awesome here so far.
Here I am will all of my belongings for the year and they all weigh about 75-80 pounds!
