So most of you know that I have been sick for the better part of this past week and of course that is never fun.  Its been a bit of a challenge forcing myself to slow down and rest like a sick person. But I think this is probably something I am gonna get used to over the next 10 months. I am slowly coming around to my normal, healthy self but I still have some lingering sickness which I’ll be happy to be finally rid of.

I did rally enough to get myself to the John Mayer concert Friday night (priorities, right?) and we all had a good time at that. It was outdoors and it rained half the time so our teams had a nice little dance party in the rain, much to the dismay of the umbrella-ed Philippinos. It was one of those times where I had to smile and say, “Hey, this is my life” 🙂

My team was in Tondo (the dump site) all week building a house for a 14 year old girl and her younger sister so that will be really cool for them when it gets finished. I got to go one day and I have become an expert cement mixer, so if you ever need to make cement, you know who to call 🙂

I don’t have any crazy stories or anything since I’ve spent most of my time this weeek on a bunk bed but I do want to tell you about our friend Joemar. He is from Tondo and he’s 17. He is very active in the church and is just a huge help everywhere. Everyday that weve done any kind of work in Tondo, he’s been right alongside of us working just as hard if not harder. Basically, hes awesome. He graduated from high school last March and wants to go to college but there is just no money for him to go. BUT it only costs about $500 a semester to attend, get transportation and food! So thats pretty amazing and he just deserves so much more than life in a dump. Please consider helping Joemar out or just pray that he could get funded. Let me know if you want more info!
I so appreciate all of your prayers and I feel very blessed to have such a great support system at home. Hopefully I’ll have more exciting news next time!
