that is used to make and fill the bio-sand water filters we were building. We
spent countless hours sifting a large mound of volcanic sand into various
grades of gravel and sand that in the end went through four different
levels of sifting. Large gravel, medium gravel, small gravel, and fine sand were separated, washed and layered into the water filters.

continually wants to shake things off of us so that we become unoffendable. All
I could think of was us shake shake shaking those sand sifters. Some of the things
God wants to shake off of us are going to come off in the first sifting.
They’re large, easily removed iniquities that we could probably see and pick
out without even being put through the sifter; but God doesn’t stop there. When
we believe we have something under control and are walking in obedience he puts
another sifter down to reveal in us where we can be refined. He never relents
in wanting us to be like Christ. When we believe we have mastered patience He
will put someone in our lives to more refine our patience. When we believe we
have mastered boldness He will place an opportunity in our lives that we want
to shy away from. When we have something in our soul that is detrimental to our walk that we cannot shake off then He will help us shake it off. God is not after our begrudging submission but he will put pressure on us by reproof and conviction and bring us to a place of repentance so that we can be more fully spurred to obedience and life, all the while washing us in His grace and love. Shovel sand. Sift Sand. Shovel Sift. Sift Sand. Repeatedly sifted, continually made holy.
