In a week over 200 future racers will be arriving in White, GA to start their training camp. They have new packs, shiny shoes that haven’t been stained by African dirt, and no idea what they are getting themselves into. That was me a year and half ago. Bright eyed, excited, and completely naive.
Little did I know that training camp and The World Race would be one of the most difficult, stretching, amazing, and joyous blessings of my life so far. When I was day dreaming about traveling the world and loving on orphans for a year, I didn’t imagine the ways I would be changed forever. I experienced God in some crazy, real ways. I saw God fulfill His promises to fight for his people and provide for them. I saw him redeem broken hearts, cast out demons, heal arms, and bring hundreds of people into a relationship with him. It was so humbling to be a part of. The Race opened my eyes to so much about myself, God, and the world.
These 200 racers are about to start their journey and I get to be apart of it with them. I will be walking them through what it looks like to be a racer. Not just the small details of what you should pack and this is where you are going, but with the big things like how to deal with the pain of seeing women being sold at a park in Cambodia, and how to react when their teammate is driving them crazy and they aren’t sure if the race is really worth it anymore. I get to lead them through the tough moments of missing home and celebrate with them as they see miracle after miracle. I get to be a small part in their journey as I travel around with them for 5 months. I am so excited to meet them, give them a big hug, and watch them be transformed by the unconditional love of God.
I am selling T-shirts to help support raise for squad leading. They are $20 (plus $5 for outside of Oklahoma Shipping). They are super soft, unisex v-neck T-shirts. All proceeds will go to helping me reach my fundraising goal of $6500 and towards personal expenses for the race (such as a plane ticket home and gear).
