the heart of God truly is in the small, the quiet, the unseen things of this world by human eyes. truly grateful for this season of being hidden because i sit and marvel as our father works. i listen as he ministers and speaks. gal 2:20 to the max. his love is everywhere, every day. his treasures are found in those who have been through experiences that are unimaginable. his love shines through the worship and praise of a nine year old girl abandoned by her family. in the fireworks and gun shots sporadically going off all hours of the night. in the sharing of goldfish with a two year old. he is in the unrelenting love and joy of a five year old boy who’s mother tried to sell and then abandoned him. painting nails with a soon to be friend as she shares her scars and deep things of the heart for hours and hours. he is in the four adults trying to be santa for twenty-three kiddos. in the mornings of baking, soaking the sun and playing silly games. in the walks to the pulperia. he is the heart of the mother who learns how to cut apples and cut-outs of sofia the princess because those are her baby’s favorite things. in the wind blown hair and lice. in the cornflakes and hot milk mess that always ends up on my clothes from little hands and big hugs. in the freezing cold bucket showers. in the refuge a mother and daughter find from the man that is after them. in the coffee made without sugar just for you. in the child who experiences love and freedom for the first time. in sharing the gospel on the plane. his delight is in the sweet twelve year old girl who has cerebral palsy and strums the same pattern on a guitar for hours. his joy is in the exchange of languages and broken attempts to fully convey messages. his smile is in diego dumping his ring pop in my coffee and following up with a “me gusta.” from the hours of listening to gracie’s stories all the way to simply finding headphones on the plane…his love is in the brilliance of those who continually persevere; not denying the darkness but continually looking for his light in everything.

In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

“one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all”
