I’ve been in transition since coming to Guatemala, and even after 3 months the transition has continued.

Teammates have come and gone, houses have been moved into and out of multiple times, our vision has been tweaked and modified, new positions have been delegated as leadership has changed—these things have brought about some uncomfortable feelings & challenges.

But one thing has been constant. His love…

As well as our desire to seek His face.

During times like these, perspective is everything. It’s easy to focus on the adversity at hand; however, God is inviting us to come up higher. He’s inviting us to see from His perspective. When that happens, we realize adversity comes so we will know Him in a way that we wouldn’t otherwise know- He is revealing Himself in new ways

Jonathan shared on this topic this morning and said a pressed grape is what brings wine and a crushed olive is what brings the oil. When we’re crushed, Christ comes out of us.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”    2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Soon the dust will settle. And when it does, we will all know the Lord in ways we did not know before. And the high calling on this base to Father the orphans around us has been solidified like never before…

We will be able to teach from a standpoint of understanding, not just knowledge and a viewpoint of perspective, not just sight. For we will know Him.

And Job, after His suffering and adversity said, “My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you” Job 42:5

The Lord is good and He will not withhold good things from His children.
