I really hate politics. Honestly it’s disgusted me to see the state of our nation this past year from afar. So guess what? I’m gonna tell you some of what I’ve experienced being in “the rest of the world.” That’s one meme we have seen a lot of lately. I’m embarrassed for my country just like the rest of the world or however it goes. That’s funny because not once this year have I ever felt embarrassed to be American. Not once has anyone looked down on me or made fun of me or talked any kind of crap to me because I am an American. At least none that I heard anyways. In fact, it blew my mind this year to see how many people absolutely adore our country. It’s amazing to see people’s faces light up when a few Americans come into their store. Did I ever feel like I got a cold shoulder? Not even once. Did I ever feel EMBARRASSED to be an American? NO! So I don’t understand this whole the rest of the world is embarrassed for us. As far as I’ve been able to tell people are excited for the change happening in our country. From Morocco to Kyrgyzstan all the way to freakin China people support OUR country. I can’t even tell you how many Chinese people I saw wearing a t-shirt with the American flag on it. Kyrgyzstan, I literally didn’t even know it was a country until the World Race, American flags everywhere. It’s funny to see our flag flying so high across this entire universe yet so many of us are embarrassed like the rest of the world…
You can literally walk into the most random country in the world and they’re gonna know America. Every single person you ask, would you ever go to America? Of course it’s my dream. It’s the rest of the worlds dream to come to America, to be an American. To get to experience the freedoms we get to experience. Freedoms like publicly burning our country’s flags in the streets. Being able to go to counseling because your so absolutely distraught about Trump being elected president. How embarrassing is that? Good Lord. I can’t imagine what kind of counseling our 20 something year olds would need if something real happened to them. Like 9 of your family members dying in front of you for instance or having to flee everything you’ve ever known owned or loved because Isis forced you out of your country. Or having to prostitute yourself to feed your children. Or something I saw nearly every single day being younger then 13 years old having to sleep on the streets. God what these people would do for a little counseling. A little slice of the American heaven.
So here we are, my generation is scared their feelings are hurt and their way of taking action is no different from the very things they think they’re protesting. No, obviously things have been better in America but I promise you one thing aside from political differences and the media’s portrayal, we are in a much better place then we think we are. Sure racism is probably at an all time high, hatred is more prevalent then it’s probably ever been. We are literally as divided as we could possibly get. Some positives. At least we’re not being killed for our religion (YET) or even better having to live under a cast system, women are allowed to vote, we have a say in our political system, I can freely wake up in the morning when I want and dream as big as I want to and no one can stop me IF I don’t want them to. When are we gonna get out and seek wisdom and understanding on our own as opposed to letting a liberal or conservative decide our thoughts for us. Let’s break away from the machine. Let’s do a new thing. Let’s stand up for ourselves instead of allowing everyone around us, our circumstances, news, social media, a counselor and our mommies and daddies to dictate the outcome of our lives. It’s a shot in the dark right? Our country’s too far gone there’s no possible way that were gonna make it. God might as well just set fire to our entire country and be done with us.
I’ll proudly say this. If you’re embarrassed by MY country leave. You won’t be missed. There’s billions of people that would gladly change places with you. Until then I will stand as a proud American. One that is privileged beyond belief. One that is not scared of what’s to come. One that will happily stand in support of whoever runs our country black white male or female politician or not and thank God that I get to come home to America! I am so honored to get the privilege of being an American citizen. Thank you Lord that I got to be born in the greatest nation on this entire earth! Merica!!!
