Just a quick update on my life:

This past week or so has been crazy. I travelled to Nashville with Georgia G-squadmates to cheer on Joshua as he ran a marathon (26.2 miles) last Saturday. A few other Gs met us in Nashville for a mini-reunion. It was a jam-packed weekend with marathons, movies, and good food. While in Nashville, I met up with a college roommate of mine for dinner and coffee, and it was so refreshing. It was fun to look back on memories, discuss the present, and dream about the future together over pasta and breadsticks. The Fellowship crew went to Atlanta on Wednesday to an ‘escape room’ and dinner to just hang out. A few of us went to worship at a local church afterward. So it has been a jam-packed few days, but I am enjoying it!

In other news…

This is a season of thankfulness. We celebrate Thanksgiving in one week. And many are asking “What are you thankful for this day/month/year/season?” Many participate in the [number] of days of Thankfulness leading up to Thanksgiving Day. So, have you taken the time to thank God for what He has done? Are you thankful for His provision? Your family/friends? The country in which you live?

Last year, I spent Thanksgiving with my team and two others in Manzini, Swaziland. We had new teams, a new continent, new ministry and other changes. Some of us were sad about not being home with family for the holiday, for some it was their first Thanksgiving to miss. However, we were able to create our own celebration with some familiar food, friends who became family, and fun.

This year I am on U.S. soil. So much has changed in one year, yet so much is the same. I will miss Thanksgiving with my immediate family, but I will celebrate with family in NC. I still see some of my squadmates on a daily basis and talk to a few during the week. This week through worship with Housefires and other events, I have been encouraged to remember what I am thankful for. And since I love lists…

Things I am Thankful for:

  • my freedom when so many do not have

  • my family

  • bonus family (friends)

  • my experiences in the past year

  • my current home in Georgia

  • my home(s) in TX

  • God’s provision, always

  • and so much more.

I am thankful, I am able to still pursue missions domestically as I learn how to mobilize and set-up ministry for those Adventures in Missions sends abroad. Most of the time, I enjoy what I do. As with any ‘job’ there are mundane processes to be completed, but there are also times of celebrating.

We have sent a few teams to Greece to help in the refugee situation, we are expanding into Expedition routes, host relationships continue to evolve and develop, and these are just a few things. I have seen the ‘behind-the-scenes’ work that goes into making the World Race and other trips work. I am thankful to observe those in the office who make it possible for others to serve God in a way they feel called.

I am especially thankful to YOU, the one who reads my blog, my status updates, the mundane parts of my life, the joys and celebrations, etc. Thank you for all your support!!!

So, dear reader, what are you thankful for this year? Have you taken the time to tell God how thankful you are for His provision? Have you taken time to tell those around you, you appreciate them?
