Timing is Everything
This month my team has prayed a lot. A good hour and a half to three hours before church we go around the village and pray for believers and even nonbelievers. Most of the time we pray for healing, financial provision and blessings. Team Aperture has even cast out demons.
When I came on the World Race, I knew I would encounter some of these things, however I don't think I was really prepared. In Nepal, two of my teammates and church members cast out a demon from an oppressed girl in church – this was week 1. We have prayed for many to be released from chains that bind them to false gods and for freedom. This past week, our team was able to release a woman from oppression. Her husband brought her in after the church service for us to pray for her.
Myles spoke directly to the demon while the rest of us prayed blessing and praised God. You can read more about it on Myles' blog, myleswillman.theworldrace.org
This is one instance where we saw God work almost immediately. Most of the time though, our prayers are not answered that quickly. Sometimes it is discouraging to see people walk away and not be healed. But God is in control and His timing is everything.
Last week, Aperture and Boundless attended a pastor's conference. We were able to hear how God has answered prayers AND how He received the glory. It has been frustrating at times to pray for all these people because sometimes it feels like because we are white they think we have more power. During the conference, several pastors spoke on how God had brought healing and hope to the village people.
Even while I am writing this, God is working. Team Aperture is getting ready to leave for a baptism. Due to the deliverance of the demon oppressed woman, 5 people have accepted Christ and want us to come baptize them.
Sometimes it is frustrating to pray over and over again without seeing results. However we all play different parts in the 'farming' process of Christians. Some till the soil, others plant the seed, water the seed/plant, others nurture and others harvest. Every role is important in furthering the kingdom.
I feel blessed to be able to play a part and see results in every way.
Please continue to pray for our teams as we have four/five more days of ministry before heading to Thailand.
