Hellooooo. This month my team (R.A.D.I.A.N.T.) is paired with Team Perisseuo in Romaniaaa.
We arrived at our mission house monday afternoon and started getting aquainted with the people we'll be working with. We have two girls living with us that are orphans that Raul (our host) took in. There are also two men. Marcel, who informed our group that the two family sized containers of yogurt that we had bought for breakfast were actually sour cream and Alex whom I have yet to see and am convinced he is a phantom. Neither of the girls speak English so communicating with them is difficult. I'll definately have mastered the art of charades by the end of this trip.
Raul and his team have been building a church in the city of Draganesti. Which is actually pronounced Drag-an-isht as opposed to Drag- nasty as our team had been calling it. A lot of the work we'll be doing this month will be at Hope Church. They are having the grand opening of their new building on September 25th. This is SUCH an encouragement to me because prior to leaving for this trip I psyched myself up for keeping a positive attitude even when I don't see any results in my work and in our very first month we are going to be able to see the results of not only our work but all the hard work that Raul's team and previous WR squads have been doing for months. SO COOL. (I am having trouble uploading pictures on this site do hopefully soon I'll have some!)
Our first few days of work have been so INTERESTING. It has been such a comedic adjustment. So many of the tasks I've been asked to do are just so out of the ordinary in my mind. One of the men working at the church is named Tavi and for the most part, he is in charge of assigning our tasks. If you answered any of the questions right in my previous blog, then I'm sure you guessed that the communication barrier is proving to be quite hilarious. Whenever he assigns me an insanely frustrating task he smiles and says “It's easy!”. My team has been so incredible in this aspect. Being joyful with every task and then asking for more even when they are exhausted. AGH God is just using these people to make me better already and I love it. We'll also be going into neighboring towns doing kids programs, passing out invitations and promoting the church so I am excited to get out there and start making connections with people.
In other news… My team is AWESOME. Couldn't have picked a better group of women if I'd tried. We have showers this month. Food has actually been pretty decent. AND I found a website that has enabled me to watch HALF of the Bachelor Pad season finale so far!
LASTLY. The quiz answers areeee: C, C, D, C. Jeremy wins 🙂
