Am I ready for this?
Sorta – I just made a last run to the store, I’ve begun the packing process, I’ve said my goodbyes… So why is my immediate reaction to shout NO as loud as I can anytime I’m asked that question?

Truthfully, I don’t know if any of us will ever truly feel ready. We know this year is not going to be like anything we’ve ever experienced before – we’re going to reach our highest highs and our lowest lows… so how does one prepare for that? I’m starting to see I can’t. But, God knows what next year will bring us, and has preparing us long before we heard about the World Race. So, all I can do is trust that. Trust that it’s not about my weaknesses, but it’s about how he will use my weakness to show off his greatness… And man, am I excited to see that!

With that said, can you believe I leave Michigan WEDNESDAY MORNING?!!! Wow, it’s crazy how these last few weeks have flown by! I’ll fly into Ft. Lauderdale on the 5th and stay with a fellow racer for a couple days. I believe there will be a few of us that will then drive to Miami early on the 7th and meet up with the rest of our squad to get a plane to the Dominican Republic!

So… with the day drawing near, I thought it’d be good to let y’all know how to help!

Before I leave:
  • Big Boy fundraiser – in South Lyon on Monday, January 3rd!!! 10% of the profits between 5 and 9 PM will be donated to send me on the race. I’ll also have a table set up selling Threads of Hope bracelets and Suubi necklaces. I’ll be there the whole night, and it will probably be the last chance I have to say goodbye, so please stop by and see me!!!
  • Stop by Java House in South Lyon by Tuesday. I have bracelets and necklaces there as well, so consider picking out a couple cute bracelets while you wait for your coffee!
  • Donate your spare change! I took in change we had laying around our house and it was over $100!!! Every cent truly adds up. Bring it to the fundraiser, or send me an email, and I’d be more than happy to swing by and pick it up! (Assuming you live in the area)
  • Donate your cans and bottles! I’ve had friends give me whatever cans and bottles they had, and it really has made a difference! It’s an easy way for you to make a donation 🙂
  • Bracelets and necklaces – I will be returning any unsold bracelets before I leave, so it’s your last chance to get them if you’re interested! If you’re not in the area, I’ve mailed them to many friends all over the country, so if you let me know by Tuesday morning, I can get them out before I leave!
 While I’m gone:
  • Pray!!! Prayer is so powerful… please keep me, my team, and my squad in your prayers.
  • Set up a monthly donation – It’s really easy to set up a monthly donation online, and giving a little each month adds up quick! Think about it – if just 10 people donated $20/month for the 11 months I’m gone, that would be $2,200!!!! That’s a HUGE dent! Click here to donate online!
  • Consider a one time gift – I’ve been so overwhelmed by the support I’ve received so far, but I still have a long way to go to be fully funded, and every bit counts! Donations can be made online here or checks can be made out to Adventures in Missions with my name in the memo line and mailed to Adventures In Missions, P.O. Box 534470, Atlanta, GA 30353-4470
  • Collect change, cans, etc. – I obviously won’t be here to pick them up and take them in myself, but consider collecting them at some point and just donating that amount to me on the Race, even if it’s only a couple of dollars, I promise I will appreciate it!
  • Encouragement! Leave comments on my blogs, send e-mails, etc. While there’s no guarantee when or how often I will be able to get online, when I’m able to, it would mean a lot to have some encouragement from everyone back home waiting for me! Also, if you have skype, let me know, I would love to try to chat at some point, so make sure to find me!
  • Keep me updated! I know I’m gonna be missing everyone at home, so just cause I’m far away, doesn’t mean I don’t want to know what’s going on in your life!!! 🙂
Well, this will probably be the last chance I have to blog before I leave. I’ll make sure to update y’all as soon as I’m able!
