So, I’m doing it. I’m actually doing it. I’m going on the World Race! When I tell people about this journey I am about to embark on, the first thing people ask is, “You’re doing what?” So I decided to break it down and help answer the many questions and curiosities everyone has been wondering.

What is the World Race?
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries through Adventures in Missions with the focus being abandoning your comfort zones and worldly possessions and serving “the least of these”.

Where will I be going?
I’m excited to announce that I will be going on the all Asia route! This will include the countries of India, Nepal, Thailand, Laos, Japan, Mongolia, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

What will I be doing?
Each country will vary in what exactly we will be doing. Our contacts will set us up with local ministries that range from working at an orphanage, teaching English, spending time fighting sex-trafficking, or even getting our hands dirty with construction. What will remain the same in each country, however, is the opportunities to serve those we come in contact with.

When will you be leaving?

My World Race journey will start September 2015.

Who will you be going with?
I’ll be traveling with a group of 45 to 60 people (as known as my “squad”) to each country together. Though we will all be traveling as a group, we may not be working with the same ministries in each country as a unified squad. Therefore, each squad will consist of teams of six or seven people that will branch off to work with the ministries in the country. My team will be my family on the Race. I will be in raw, authentic community with them for the year as I will have the opportunity to live with them as well as adventure, serve, and worship alongside them.

Why were you called on the Race?
I learned about the World Race when I was fifteen years old on a mission trip in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. One of our speakers ran one of the first World Races and told me about his journey and it sparked my interest from then on. Going on mission trips every summer since I was twelve has brought forth my passion for serving others and I have always loved the idea and practice of stepping out of my bubble of familiarities and into an unknown, solely relying on God’s love and faithfulness to provide in every situation. Through these trips, I felt as if God was equipping me for a grander, more intricate path that I would experience in due time. So when God finally whispers, “It’s time”, you answer with a “Yes. Here I am!” and you go. I am confident that my God will use the Race to stretch me into the woman He has called me to be along with being the hands and feet to His precious children.

But I can’t do this without your help…

How can you support me?
