I’ll admit it.

I’ve been love sick the entire race…. infatuated and distracted really.

Too preoccupied to share the details of my life with you.

When I left in January I thought I knew a lot about love. I grew up in a loving family, and my life has been riddled with people (friends, coaches, mentors, professors, teachers, and many others) who have loved me so unconditionally. It is actually the theme of my testimony. God has showered me with love my entire life, and beyond the people in my life, I have always felt unconditionally loved by the Lord. It is certainly a subject in which I felt well-versed.

But what is love?

Sure, God is love.

But I also love Dr. Pepper.

My love for Dr. Pepper certainly cannot compare with God’s love for me.

That is the problem with the English language. Love as a word is overused, misunderstood, and greatly undervalued.

I am not trying to bash the English language. It’s the official language of 53 countries, and that has made traveling easier for me. I love it.

But do you see how that happens? “I love it.” We mentally begin to put God’s love in a category will all other earthly things.

In the past 10 months I have lived in 12 countries and failed to update you because I was too busy experiencing this love of God.

It is too unique to manufacture. I cannot re-create it. But I can attest to it.

I have witnessed it.

felt it.

shared it.

lived it.

preached about it.

And now it is time to write about it.

But how do you begin to put words to the power of God’s love?

Well, people say that a picture is worth a thousand words.

So for the next forty days I am going to share one photo a day, coupled with the story behind it. Each story is unique and untold. Some are funny, some are heartbreaking, but the common thread they share is a testimony of God’s living love.

A Forbidden Love

(pic cred: Sara Trammel)

Flowers are a universal symbol of love and celebration. So much in fact, that they are taboo to buy and sell this month in Thailand. The entire country is taking part in a grieving process to mourn the death of their latter king. My team and I are living in Bangkok (the capitol city) where the king is actually buried, which means we adhere to a more intense grieving process than surrounding areas might. Parts of the mourning process include wearing dark/black clothing all month and not being allowed to have celebrations or give flowers. Well… I have never received a live bouquet of flowers before (that I can remember), and two weeks ago the Lord told me to start praying for flowers. He said He wanted to give me a live bouquet of flowers before anyone else did, to tell me He loves me. But flowers are forbidden in this City. So for the past two weeks I have been praying for flowers, and seeing them everywhere I looked. God has been showering me in love. Then yesterday my teammate Mary Jane, whom was not informed about the details of my prayer, surprised me with a live bouquet of flowers. She searched the streets of Bangkok for these banned beauties, and the Lord provided. He isn’t limited by cultural norms, and He wants to make you feel just as loved as I did yesterday.

Give God a chance to celebrate you today! Ask Him how He wants to reveal His love to you. I promise, He doesn’t disappoint.
