(I am currently watching the Academy Awards, hence the title.)

We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to the World Race.  And, well, here’s my story…

Since I was a wee little lad, I knew that I wanted to travel the world and help people.  Initially, I thought that the Peace Corps was the program for me.  After going through the application process, and learning more about the program, I began to develop many hesitations.  The Peace Corps is an amazing program, but it scared me to be away from home for 27 months, in a country without a team along with me, and I also was apprehensive about being in one country doing the same thing for such a great length of time.  I decided to put my application on hold while I pursued other options.

One day, while I was supposed to be working, I found myself googling, “mission’s programs.”  I was led to the AIM website where I was immediately interested in the, “eleven countries in eleven months” advertisement.  The more I read, the more I loved the sound of this program.  A shorter length of time, with a group of people, doing a variety of tasks in a variety of places, all the while serving God… holla!

The more I pursued the World Race, the more I knew that it was the next step that God wanted me to take in my life.  So many things were falling into place, the lease on my apartment even ends on the exact date of the program launch!  I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity – it combines so many of my passions.  I can’t wait! 🙂
