• There are over 7 billion people on Earth today.
  • Of those people, 1.5 billion people have never even heard of the great love of Christ. 1.5 BILLION.

These stats shake me to the core. That’s 1.5 billion people who do not know the life-changing, soul-altering love of Jesus. Imagine going to bed tonight without knowing the great love of Christ.

Someone may say, “Kelly, why should you care? Those people are not your problem. God will take care of them.”

First of all, you’re right.  They are not my problem.  Over the past few years, God has been showing me more and more that we, as a body of believers, should be heart-broken for the world. Jesus gave us this command: He said, “All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to me.  Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28). I just know God is serious about world missions.  I believe He wants us to be thinking and praying about how we should use our specific gifts … whether it be actually going abroad, whole-heartedly supporting other missionaries, or praying for the nations like a juggernaut, etc… I believe God has given us all a part to play in reaching the nations… and I am slowly learning the part He wants me to play.

Secondly, it is clear throughout the old and new testaments God cares for the poor. Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for the least of these, you did not do for me.” (Matthew 25:45). Wow.  If I saw Jesus starving, lonely, and sick, I would run to Him, throw a blanket around Him, and use every fiber of my being to give Him a banquet fit for a king. So, I’ve been thinking lately… have I been serving the poor with that kind of passion?  God has been showing me more and more that we are to be the ones to reach out to them. It’s a nice reminder God wants me to be His hands and feet.

I certainly don’t have everything figured out.  I plan to use this blog to share some things the Lord is trying to teach me.

So why is my desire to reach others becoming an impossible itch? Why am I going on the World Race?

I want the world to know the love I know. I want people to go to sleep at night knowing they are in the loving hands of the Almighty King. It’s that simple.  Just the great love of Christ.
