Dear Friends and Family,
I have a very exciting journey to update you on. Back in May, I graduated from Cal State University, Northridge with a Bachelors Degree in Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality Management. After Graduation I imagined finding a job on a cruise ship, in the special events industry, or even as a tour guide for a travel company. I never dreamed that God would call on me to become a missionary, but here I am. The Lord has been working in my life the last couple months in a unique and special way. In the next several months, I will need your help, prayers, support, and guidance.
This past year I have watched a friend of mine complete an 11 month mission trip, and I have never felt more convicted to participate in such a journey. Through her I discovered the World Race (WR) which is well regulated by the non-profit organization Adventures in Missions (AIM). About a month ago, I was accepted to take part in the WR, which is an 11 month mission trip that takes place in 11 different countries. The route that God has called me to serve will take me through: Cambodia, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Puerto Rico.
While I was raised in church and born with a servant’s heart, it was easy to hang on to the fear that maybe the WR wasn’t for me. It took one dinner with a non believer friend to reaffirm my decision. I conveyed my concern over the money I needed to raise; the financial burden alone is enough to deter even the most spiritually driven individual. She simply replied with, ‘if you believe that this is God’s purpose for you, it will happen. He isn’t going to give you something you can’t handle.’ Days later when I mentioned to her that she played a large role in my decision, she couldn’t explain why she responded in the way that she had, only that she had ‘felt compelled’. I had asked God for a sign and He used the encouraging words of someone who doesn’t believe in Him to speak to me. He knew they would affect me the most while I prayed over my decision.
The World Race is not only a mission trip, but also an intensive discipleship program. Through the WR, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
I will face many challenges during my year of mission work, but as I prepare for my departure this January, one of my greatest challenges is my financial support. Like most other mission organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. In order to leave fully funded in January 2017, I need to raise $16,617. This money will cover all of my field expenses for the 11 months of the trip. As I take this large step of faith in trusting the Lord, I am writing to you to ask for your prayer support as I prepare for this mission opportunity during the upcoming year. Also, if you feel led, it would be wonderful to have your financial support. I am trusting that the Lord will provide. My prayer is that He will do that through you and other believers who share and want to partner in spreading the Gospel to the nations!
I would love to send you a support letter and response card inviting you to share in this ministry. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. If you decide to partner with me financially, please make checks payable to “Adventures In Missions” and please write “For Kelli Wymore” in the memo line of the check to ensure it is credited toward my support. Please feel free to comment or send me an email with your address to [email protected].
If you would prefer to make your donation online, you may do so by visiting my blog site at: www.kelliwymore.theworldrace.org. Just click the “Donate” link on the right side on my Funds Goal Bar. This blog will also be my main means of communication, providing you with weekly updates about my adventures and what God is doing around the world. I hope you will follow me on my blog throughout the year and keep me in your prayers as I share what the LORD is doing.
I am extremely excited about what the LORD has laid before me this next year of my life to further His kingdom by taking the love of Jesus to the ends of Earth. May God bless you as you prayerfully consider partnering with me in this adventure.
All the best,
Kelli Wymore
