Our team started a discipleship program a few months ago called the six1 project, based off of Isaiah 61. I wrote about it here. When we headed to the States a month ago, we left the program in the hands of our four teachers to run while we were gone. When we returned, we found that the program had not only survived, but that it is thriving!
We have four Kenyan friends who teach a few different classes, each with about 8-12 students. These classes are: grades 1-3, grades 4-6, grades 7-8, and the Isaiah class. The students in grades 1-8 come one day a week to learn English, about Jesus and discipleship. The students in the Isaiah class come Monday-Friday for two hours each day. These are students who can’t afford high school or whose situation is such that they can’t currently attend school. They study the subjects they would learn in any other school’s curriculum, and they learn about Jesus and what it means to be His follower.

God has blown me away with how He is moving in each of these classes and these children’s lives, especially in the Isaiah class. These high school-aged kids who were idle and losing hope of having the opportunity for furthering their education are now provided an opportunity to continue learning. A few months ago, these students were living in shame, were downhearted, and lacked hope. Now, they are excited about life, they are participating in class, and they have something worthwhile to belong to.
17 students regularly attend the Isaiah class. About a month ago, most of these students decided to either recommit their lives to Jesus or to follow Him for the first time! And now they want to be baptized!
Most mornings, our team of four along with our team of teachers meets in the morning to worship, pray, and be together before we begin our day. Last Monday, we along with about 40 young people from the area gathered to worship God together! The students led the service and shared personal stories about God’s faithfulness to them.

God reminded me–see? This is why you are here. I want you and your team to disciple youth. You invest in these teachers, and they in turn invest in their students. Then those students invest in other people and invite others into God’s family.
Now there are 40 young people, worshipping Jesus and living for Him.
The Kingdom of God is one of multiplication and increase. I can’t wait to see how God will use His children to reach even more people He’s inviting into His Kingdom.
If you would like to be a part of this, please contact me! I would love to let you know how you can support this ministry in prayer or finances!
Beginning in December, we would like to put these 17 students from the Isaiah class in school. Most families here cannot afford to send their children to high school. If you would like to give a student the opportunity to go to high school or contribute toward that, please let me know!
We are also looking for sponsors to support our staff. Since they volunteer their time, we would like to support them to meet some of their basic needs. If you are interested in giving toward this, let me know!
